A new trend: see-through furniture enjoys a revival

According to an interesting article in FT.com see-through furniture enjoys a revival and that shows our need for transparency.

April’s Salone del Mobile, the Milan furniture fair that is often considered a guide to global interior trends, there was a noticeable focus on new materials, and in particular on innovative takes on transparency. There were see-through glass wardrobes; shimmering, colour-changing glass furniture pieces; and Plexiglas tables that resembled ice and looked ready to drip all over the floor."

It is true that one of the most talked about collections there was Patricia Urquiola's Shimmer collection of low tables and shelves for Glas Italia with an iridescent multi-chromatic finish:

But what I like is the idea that this need for transparancy has started earlier and will continue to be characteristic of our 21st century.
